Welcoming Dutch and German Readers

enternetusers Site News 10 comments

I think I might need to learn Dutch and German because some days I think this site is read (and linked to) by more bloggers speaking those languages than English.

It is actually a wonderful thing about blogging - forging relationships with people on the other side of the globe - now if only I knew what they were saying about me!

  • Why do you think this? Get many links from Dutch and German readers?

    (I’m Dutch btw ;))

  • Hi Dennis,

I don’t know why this is - I get a lot of of links from German and Dutch speaking bloggers - no complaints here - I love it. Just no idea why so many seem to read me from that part of the world.

  • Have you used babelfish and translate it? It will not be good translations but at least you can know their feedback :)

  • I get loads of dutch and chinese and spanish readers. The Spanish folk seem to love my jokes, heh.

  • Hi Darren, one of the reasons that you get some Dutch visitors is that we had a discussion in the Dutch blogosphere about earning money with blogs. Just let me know if you want to know what we are writing about you!

Jeremy, not only the Spanish people like your jokes ;-)

  • Dear Darren,

the fact that you’re receiving “de” (german) referers and incoming links is quite simple: Most internet professionals in Germany, nearly every under-50-aged user, and in general the wholeness of “blog-aware” people are usually fluent in english. Many blogs of German authors are writing either in english or quote english sources. I prefer to be more international by using english in my blog as it’s shortly after mandarin chinese the world’s most spoken language - and it’s fact that most modern and technical words are basically english, and many university courses are offered multilingual (for me german, english and spanish). More input on this? Just ask ;)

    Best regards,
    Mike Schnoor

  • I am sorry I sent you that link about the german SEO challenge, if it confused you so much :)

    Greetings
    Bernd

  • Eckes, nice to see you here ;o))

And good idea to get international users into the game *grin*

Darren you would be the first for that term I would link to ;o)

  • Niole, I noticed that seekport.de (one of the search engined which is queried for results) do not have any eckes.org (my site) results. I suspect this is due to the fact that it is not a *.de domain and not all articles on that site are german.

And btw: a lot of internation webmaster sites just picked up the hype (and a log of them report wrong, like stating it is the “heise magazine” from “c’t company” or stating that is is a Dish from “Gepard” :)

    Gruss
    Bernd

PS: sorry for the OT :)

  • Guten Tag Darren! (Good day Darren!)

I know this post is about two years old, but when I searched your blog for “German” I found this one. I’m reading your weblog for about two weeks now and I love it. Sorry my english is not the best (altough I’m doing my maturity examination in this language), but who knows, maybe we can talk in german soon ;-).

Schöne Grüße aus Österreich (Nice greetings from Austria),
